Chamar is a cast which is made for the peoples,who use to do the leather works in India, Pakistan, Nepal. They are also known as Dalits in India. In India mostly chamars are in Northern India, mainly in the states Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar. In Andhra Pradesh chamars are known as Madiga, Arundatiyars in Tamil Nadu.
Chamar is a second biggest cast of India having over 50 million population. Chamars are highly active towards politics. They are known as most highly influential group among scheduled casts. In history of India chamar is one the casts who are known as low casts in India, they were also known as untouchables, but in todays world Chamars are the most progressive cast in India.
